Pre-Tattoo

-EAT! Food is so important before a tattoo. Your body is undergoing constant, extended trauma over the duration of the tattoo process. It is going to react immediately to try to repair itself the moment the needle breaks skin and that requires lots of energy! The larger your piece, the longer the appointment, the more energy you’re going to use, the more tired and unwell you may start to feel if you don’t eat beforehand. Something with carbs and protein is a great choice. We don’t want you to get sick or pass out!


-Hydrate yourself, seriously. Your skin is much easier to tattoo if you’re well-hydrated, so drink plenty of water! The amount of swelling and bleeding will be reduced as well. You’ll be much happier during the process, and so will your artist!


-Get a good night’s rest.


-If you have sensitive skin, avoid too much sun exposure before your appointment. If you come in with a sunburn you’ll have to reschedule your appointment!
